The timing conversation

Find a meaningful reason to reconnect while respecting the buyer’s priorities.

When this helps

There may be a fit, but another commitment or constraint makes the timing uncertain.

A question to make your own
“What is taking priority, and what would need to change for this to be worth revisiting?”

Understand the competing priority

Ask what the buyer is focused on. A genuine competing project may be a sensible reason to postpone.

Choose a relevant trigger

A project milestone, budget review, or known event can be a better follow-up trigger than your preferred close date. Confirm that the buyer wants to reconnect.

Be useful while you wait

If you promised information, provide it. Avoid a stream of empty check-ins. Respect a request to stop contacting them.

What to watch for

Using your quota deadline as the buyer’s urgency, or treating every delay as a negotiation tactic.

Make it yours

One thing to try.

Write a follow-up plan that names a buyer-relevant trigger and the information you will provide.

Help me plan a respectful follow-up for a timing concern. Use the buyer’s stated priorities. Suggest a relevant trigger to confirm with them; do not create urgency or assume consent to repeated outreach.
