When this helps

A capability can be demonstrated honestly in a representative scenario.

A question to make your own
We tested the handoff you asked about. Did this answer your question, or is there another condition we should check?

Agree on the task before presenting

Use the buyer’s workflow and define what success would look like. Avoid a feature tour that never reaches the problem the buyer needs solved.

Show the real boundaries

Distinguish live functionality from a prototype, sample data, or planned feature. Explain setup, integration requirements, and any manual work needed. If something fails, acknowledge it and investigate.

Let the buyer assess the evidence

Ask what they observed, what remains uncertain, and who else needs to review it. If the demonstration meets their criteria, ask for the next decision. Do not treat a positive reaction as an agreement.

What it can sound like

Illustrative conversation: Buyer: “The handoff works, but we need an approval step.” Seller: “That is not in this configuration. Let’s confirm whether it can be supported before deciding.”

What to watch for

Staging a result that implies unsupported capabilities or presenting a prototype as a finished product.

Make it yours

One thing to try.

Write a three-step demo script tied to one buyer task, with a clear explanation of current limitations.

Put it into practice

Add anonymized context to this prompt. Review the response against what you know about the buyer.

Create a task-based demo plan using only these confirmed capabilities. Include buyer goal, steps, success criteria, limitations, and a closing question. Label sample data and prototypes clearly.
