A follow-up worth opening.

Give the buyer a reason to continue the conversation.

Return to their priorities

Begin with the issue the buyer said mattered. A useful recap demonstrates understanding and helps them remember why the discussion was worthwhile.

Deliver what you promised

Attach the specific information you agreed to provide. If something is still being confirmed, say so and give a realistic update time.

Make the next decision easy

Describe one next step and why it helps. Keep the request proportionate: an introduction, a short review, or confirmation of a requirement may be more useful than another full demo.

Know when to close the loop

If there is no response after an appropriate follow-up cadence, offer a respectful way to pause. Avoid guilt, false urgency, or assuming that silence means interest.

Make it yours

One thing to try.

Rewrite a “just checking in” email around one buyer priority, one useful piece of information, and one clear question.

Put it into practice
